How to arrive

From Marseille Provence airport take the Shuttle (almost every 20′ in the daytime) which arrives at Marseille Saint Charles main railway station, nearby the suggested hotels and the first place of work.

Please find the suggested hotels and the locations of the meetings in the map below. We added a cheaper hostel a bit farther, for those who want to save on accommodation.

What we’ll do

We’ll work first at the Velten Center, welcomed in the office of the Association of Traders and Artisans of Marseille Belsunce (ACAM), which is very active in neighbourhood environmental projects, and member of the accredited consortium for adult education coordinated by Graphistes de l’Ombre.

The coffee break will take place in the cantine of the Coco Velten, one of the eco-social project hosted by the Velten Center.

Then we’ll eat in one of the numerous restaurants of the popular quarter of Belsunce, with in mind the question : “how to people with less opportunities can deal with ecological awareness ?”.

Then we will go to the Cité des associations, our second place of work and an example of the importance of the associative movement in Marseille.

At the end of the day, participants will be able to discuss with the artist Frank Garam and discover its fascinating “Atelier des Métamorphoses”.

About the technical visit

“I put the rubbish in a museum !”

At the end of the day, we will visit the workshop of the artist Franck Garam, who has dedicated his life to assembling waste to create poetic and artistic works, staged in his theatre of life, open to passers-by… a good example of recycl’art, and how to fight the climate change.

Optional visit of Marseille

on the day before or after the working day, participants will have the opportunity to take a tour of the city guided by the association Graphistes de l’Ombre, from the Panier district, the oldest in Marseille, famous for its graphics and atmosphere, to the new Joliette district where the famous new Musee des Civilisations d’Europe et de Méditerranée (MUCEM) created by the architect Rudy Ricciotti is located.

The more courageous can, on request, take a short walk in the recent Calanques National Park, in order to become aware of the problem of the proximity of a large city and a protected natural site.
