PhD student at CRCM and Aix-Marseille University.
I was born and raised in Mexico, where I did my undergraduate studies in mathematics and my master in computer science, as well as part of my working life in the financial sector.
I have also been interested in studying topics related to health, so since 2016, I focused on breast cancer diagnosis using artificial intelligence.
This first approach got me so in 2019 I started looking for new challenges, finding as an option the PhD in life sciences and health, in the specialty of Bioinformatics and genomics, offered jointly by the Cancer Research Center of Marseille (CRCM) and the Aix-Marseille University.
More than a year later, in November 2020, I arrived for the first time in France, in the midst of joy for the new adventure, but also with many fears because of the uncertainty brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Fortunately, I met people and projects that helped me in the process of adapting to this new culture.
One of them was the COOPCOM program (Erasmus +) thanks to which I am learning how to balance the demanding work of the PhD with physical and mental health.
